The village of Broadford has no central sewerage treatment system. Untreated waste from properties along the main street flows in to the Broadford River, and then on to Doon Lake. This situation represents a real risk to human health and a risk to the environment.
Broadford would benefit hugely from appropriate, sustainable development in housing in the coming years in order to provide homes for those looking to return home to Broadford and to encourage new families in to the area. The future of our school, sports clubs, local businesses, parish and community organisations is in jeopardy without future development of the village. This developmen cannot happen until there is commitment to the construction and operation of a sewerage treatment plant for Broadford.
The BCAG is working within the community to lobby Councillors, TD's, Ministers of State, Senators and experts in this area to apply pressure to the Government and Irish Water to deliver what has been promised to Broadford for over forty-years
